Toronto Harbour Nautical Centre (formerly Harbourfront Centre Sailing & Powerboating) is an internationally recognized Sail Canada ‘Centre of Excellence in Training’ Facility, with courses that provide comprehensive theory and practical on-water experience.

Intro to Sailing
An introductory sailing experience onboard a sailboat with an instructor in Toronto’s beautiful harbour.

Dinghy Sailing
Sail Canada Basic Dinghy – CANSail 1/2
Basic dinghy sailing course, ideal for beginners, students work towards their CANSail 1 and 2 levels.

Sail Canada Intermediate Dinghy – CANSail 3/4
This course builds upon CANSail 2 skills and introduces racing concepts. Students will work towards their CANSail 3 or 4.

Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC)
This Transport Canada license is required to operate any power-driven vessel in Canada.

This license is required for operating any power-driven vessel in the Toronto Harbour.

VHF-DSC Radio License
Learn to communicate on the VHF marine radio, guided by our knowledgeable instructors.

Navigation Courses
Sail Canada Basic Coastal Navigation
Basic navigation course teaches the fundamentals of navigation, how to read charts and plot passages.

Sail Canada Intermediate Coastal Navigation
Intermediate navigation course teaches the running fix, coping with set and drift, and tides and currents.
16 Hours / $395 (+ Sail Canada Student Fee)
To gain the full Sail Canada Coastal Navigation standard students must successfully complete both the Basic & Intermediate courses.
Members can use their course credit towards all Navigation Courses.
Sail Canada Celestial Navigation
Learn to navigate using the sun, moon and stars; basic concepts include sun-run-sun and use of a sextant.
